BOARD MEETINGS

 

CONTINUING PROFESSIONAL EDUCATIONAL CREDITS


This Committee is responsible for assisting each Chapter member by accumulating and distributing the continuing professional education credits earned to ensure each member has the necessary documentation to meet their respective continuing education requirements and submitting to New York State Education Department the renewal application for continuing sponsor certification. By earning continuing professional education credits, Chapter members constantly upgrade their abilities and status within the health care industry.

EXECUTIVE COMMITTEE

Chairperson- Eric Fehrman

This Committee reviews specific items as may be assigned by the Board, and makes recommendations to the Board of Directors on these matters. The Committee also is responsible for establishing a long range strategic plan ( Multi-Year) for the Chapter in order to successfully meet the educational needs of the members and to respond to the demands of the changing healthcare environment.

Specific responsibilities include:

  1. Acting on behalf of the Board of Directors during intervals between meetings;
  2. Screening reports and letters to prepare them for presentation to the Board of Directors.

MEMBERSHIP

Chairperson - Melissa Phelps

The Committee's major goal is the expansion of the Chapter's membership roster. In achieving this goal, various objectives must be attained, including the integration of new members into the Chapter's activities and the expansion of the Chapter's recruitment programs. Activities planned for the forthcoming year are:

  1. Develop and implement a plan for membership recruitment.
  2. Develop a program to increase membership retention.
  3. Welcome new Chapter members.
  4. Follow up on non-member program registrants to encourage them to become members.

NEWSLETTER - LOCAL NOTES

Chairperson - Michele Mecomonaco

This Committee is responsible for publishing and distributing the Chapter newsletter called Local Notes. The primary objective of the newsletter is to provide the membership with educational information which will foster and increase their knowledge of specific topics in healthcare financial management. The secondary objective is to inform the membership of individual and Chapter achievements, and to report on educational and social activities. Local Notes will be published in July, September, December and March.

LONG-TERM CARE COMMITTEE

Chairperson - Christine Reilly

This Committee is responsible for providing specialized educational sessions pertinent to the needs of the long-term care members along with networking opportunities at various long-term care institutions.

EDUCATION/PROGRAMS

Chairperson - Karen Carter

This Committee has the responsibility for planning, development, marketing, presentation and evaluation of the educational programs for the Chapter year. In addition, this Committee handles registration stemming from Chapter activities and prepares listing of registrants.

This Committee has the responsibility for planning various social and recreational events for members and their families throughout the year

SPONSORSHIP

Chairperson - John O'Connor

This Committee has the responsibility for planning and coordinating the Annual HFMA Corporate Sponsorship Program. Responsibilities include updating and distributing the Sponsorship brochure along with soliciting sponsors during the HFMA educational year. The Sponsorship program is designed to enhance the quality of education programs and services to members and provide an opportunity for recognition of Chapter sponsors for their on-going support of educational activities.

CERTIFICATION

Chairperson - James Godleski

This Committee is responsible for encouraging and monitoring the certification of members.  Members who meet specified requirements and pass the appropriate exam can earn the classification of Certified Healthcare Financial Professional (CHFP) or Fellow of the Healthcare Financial Management Association (FHFMA).

BOARD MEETINGS

Meetings are attended by Officers, Board Members, and Committee Chairpersons. Meetings are held monthly.
